The Mothers of Old
A riveting gospel stage play that uses lighthearted comedy and entertainment to open the doors to having the most difficult conversations. It is commonly said that BLOOD is THICKER than WATER. However, that quote depends on who you ask. Mattie Virginia, Celestine, and Louvenia have come to realize that LOVE is THICKER than WATER and BLOOD.
The Task
These three sisters are presented with an opportunity to assist a dear friend’s request to care for a set of foster children for a few days and of course the skepticism was evident. The sisters soon realize that they have gotten up in age and taking on two young siblings could weigh heavy on their already aged and worn bodies.
The Love
The sisters are a pillar in their community, successfully fostering children for over 30 years. The rollercoaster ride of emotions that the sisters endure from one of the foster children is unimaginable. So much so, it causes their faith to almost crumble. Determined to help these children see their true value and the value in others creates a bridge for teachable life skills that ultimately cause wounded hearts to heal. Knowing that morals and values are needed and taught out of LOVE; the question one may ask is who will teach them?
