Since 1994, Shannon Whren has impacted millions and brick by brick laid a foundation for thousands. Her work has created countless opportunities for not only herself, but also those that she brought along with her to tell her story. Her strong and unrelenting spirit is what has propelled her from her small and humble beginnings to the distinguished playwright.
From the beginning Shannon Whren’s bodies of work has shaped people and transcended with time. Her writing, directing, and production of theatrical plays has opened multiple doors for many now well-known actors and musicians. The audiences that her work has reached is astonishing, but also well deserved. In her journey her stage plays, and film shorts have impacted more than 50 million people worldwide and counting.
Shannon began her journey in 1994 with the Outreach Christian Center in a 300-seat church with a sold-out performance that spanned years. She moved on through her transition to the mega church Spirit of Faith Christian Center where she naturally sold out multiple 1,500 seat shows. She went all the way to debuting her stage play A Soulful Christmas Wish at the iconic Bethesda Blues and Jazz Supper Club in 2019 becoming the first Playwright and Director to ever hold a musical stage play at that venue. Her plays A Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing and Bound & Gagged have played in multiple cities to sold-out, standing room only crowds while impacting millions through her outreach for domestic violence that her plays were a catalyst for. Her theatrical work has not only played to full capacity audiences, but multiple locations streams, live streams, DVD sales, as well as YouTube views. Shannon Whren’s stage plays have been debuted in the well renowned Lincoln Theatre, Warner Theatre, The Arch Theatre, Howard University’s Crampton Auditorium, The Atlas Theatre, The Atrium Theatre in Richmond VA, Women's Conferences in the Washington Convention Center and Baltimore Convention Center, and more. She has been featured and made appearances on multiple mainstream news channels such as Fox 5's Good Day DC, channel 4’s Great Day Washington, and channel 8’s Good Morning Virginia, radio stations like WHUR, WPGC, RADIO ONE, IHEART RADIO, PODCASTS, and talk shows just to name a few. She has been featured multiple times in magazines and newspapers with full spread articles in the Washington Post and local Gazette. Shannon has also received Proclamations and multiple letters of recognition for her tireless work and commitment in the community. She even has a day in honor of her work in Richmond VA, on April 4th.
